According to a Kaspersky Labs report, World of Warcraft is the second most popular target with 20 % of all known trojans aimed at extracting information from its players, only distanced by Lineage2 with 40 % of the trojans.

Pc Retail mag says that “The report highlights the current risks facing online gamers including what is increasingly becoming known as ’spear-phishing’, trojans that attack vulnerabilities within the games servers and last but not least, keyloggers.”

Be sure to use a good firewall and not only the internal one in your router!

Victorias Human Lock

We recieved a mail from Victoria from New Jersey on the subject “girls playing WoW”:

Well to start, I’m 18 years old and I’m attending Rutgers University in New Jersey. I’ve always been into PC games; my dad is a pretty hardcore gamer. Before WoW, I played games like Mafia, GTA, Undying (GREAT game..), System Shock etc. The only online game I played was Team Fortress Classic. (snipers FTW!) Anyway, my dad was a beta tester for WoW and when I saw him playing it didn’t seem all that interesting. Then one day way after the beta testing, I was like, why not? I rolled a NE druid with purple hair. After about 10 levels, I didn’t really care for the druid class anymore and rolled a NE tank. I got her to level 61. I would level her to 70, but I don’t really like tanking anymore. Now I play my lvl 59 human lock. And I love it! I don’t really play as much as I used to..usually when I’m really bored I’ll run an instance or something. I just play for fun.

I think that World of Warcraft is an AMAZING game. In my opinion, however, there isn’t much for the players like me to do. Since I don’t play that often (MAYBE one night a week..) it takes me awhile to level and upgrade my gear. It is SO hard to find a group for a lower level dungeon. Questing is eh..more like going to work than having fun. Although I must say that the quest rewards have improved greatly in the expansion, and I’m pleased with that — it makes questing not AS bad since you’re going to get a decent reward in the end. I really don’t like PvP (I’m on a nonPvP server.) Not sure why I dislike it..I guess it’s a result from a bad experience in WSG back when my tank was 40. (I pretty much got my butt kicked.)

And that’s about all I’ve got! I still love gaming and can’t wait for the next expansion!

/ Victoria

Hi all,

I am a guest blogger for MMO Glory. I thought I would take the time to tell you a little about me for the first post.

I am a 27 year old girl that lives in Georgia. I work for a Mortgage Company. It is quite boring to say the least.

My biggest hobby is gaming! I play anything from First Person Shooters to RPGs. I also play a extensive amount of WoW.

I have been playing WoW since the game came out. I use to work at EB Games at the time, and my boyfriend worked for EB games too. He called me up asking me if I would be interested in playing it when the game came out. I said yes and later heard from some of my favorite customers how cool the beta was. I went out the week before the game came out and bought a laptop so I could play, and ever since then I have been hooked!

As of now I play on the nonpvp server Kargath. My guild at this time is Fellowship of Azeroth. I have been with them for 3 years. It is a very friendly raiding guild. We have our casual players and hardcore. I would consider myself a little bit over casual, since I raid 2 to 3 nights a week. My Main is a 70 NE Resto Druid named Tifta, I have 3 pieces of her T4 set. I raid KZ every week. I have just a few more pieces to get.

I also have a 63 Draenei Shadow Priest Aurey still getting her up. I also have several alts, lvl 50 rogue, lvl 37 warrior, lvl 36 pally, and the list goes on.

Well that is about it for now. I will bring an update of what is going on in my world and also my characters progress and a few tips, what kind of mods I use, and whatever else I can think of. To get a better view of who I am you can also check out my blog http://www.xanga.com/lifeandgaming

Catch you all later

Both current and new subscribers can assign their PayPal account as automatic payment method on the Account Management page.

We have been waiting for this a long time. I expect PayPal payments to be the #1 payment method in a short time. The only reason I can see for Blizzard not implementing this earlier is that it will cost them a small percentage. A percentage that multiplied by a few million subscribers actually makes big money. But then again, I don’t expect Blizzard to pay the same percentage as I do when selling stuff on eBay. (no, not my characters. :))

Details about the Warcraft movie were released at Blizzcon 2007. It is interesting to hear that Blizzard will team up with Legendary Pictures, a company known for Paradise Lost, 300 and Batman Begins. The movie would likely be distributed by Warner Bros.

GameSpot reports that “Legendary is targeting a roughly $100 million budget for a film it hopes to release in 2009, and confirmed emphatically that the movie will be live-action rather than animated.”

Blizzard opts to set the movie firmly within the World of Warcraft timeline, about one year before the game begins. Chief creative officer Chris Metzen says this will not be a journey film like The Lord of the Rings. Instead, he claims that Warcraft the movie “”is absolutely a war movie” that will focus on the conflict between the alliance and horde.
